We have been having so much fun taking pictures of Grayson with the new camera that Chris gave me for Christmas. We went to the park today and made Grayson "pose" for us. Here are just a few of his best shots.

We spent this New Year's with our friends Courtney and Brian and their two little girls. Grayson and Peyton had a really fun time playing ring around the rosey. Grayson also loved to tackle Peyton and "hug" her, but Peyton wasn't so sure about this.

Chris has been off of work since Wednesday, and we have had a lot of great family time this week. We also did a lot to the house getting ready for the new baby. We are seven weeks away from the due date and are starting to get a little nervous about how we are going to handle two babies under the age of two!!!

White Christmas in Dallas!

Christmas was wonderful this year! We were able to spend a lot of time with our family and friends and that made everything perfect. Grayson really enjoyed Christmas this year and had a blast opening all of his presents. The only thing he didn't like was Spike, the dinosaur. We had to put Spike away and will try again in a couple of months b/c right now Grayson is terrified of him!

We had Christmas lunch with Mimi and Daddy Mac, Uncle Freddy and Savannah, Aunt Eve and Jim, Uncle Jeff, and Grandpa and Grandma Watson. Grayson stayed up just long enough to say hi to everyone and then napped for most of the afternoon. He was able to open his presents from Mimi and Daddy Mac and Uncle Freddy. He loved his new Thomas the Train sets and has had a blast playing with his new baseball chair.

The day after Christmas we headed to Grammie and G-Paw's house and Grayson had fun opening the rest of his presents. He also got to swing with Grammie and see cows for the first time. He was certainly a spoiled little boy this Christmas!

This morning we had to take our dog, Riley, to the vet super early to get his ears cleaned. I had to pack up Grayson in the freezing cold weather and head out the door before he even had breakfast. So, for a treat, we stopped at dunkin donuts and then when to Mimi's house for breakfast after dropping Riley off. Grayson loves playing the piano at Mimi's house and gave us a beautiful concert! (haha)

So, I know it has been FOREVER since I last updated this blog. But, I am going to try and be better especially since we are expecting a new baby in a couple months. Grayson's little brother is due February 25, 2010!!! I included a few pictures from the last couple of months and will post some more recent ones after I have downloaded them to my computer.

Grayson Update:

Grayson is going through his terrible two's right now, only he is about six months early! Really, he is the sweetest little boy ever, but he is just starting to test his boundaries and see what he can get away with. Although, if you tell him NO, a meltdown usually follows. We are learning right along with him how to be patient yet firm parents. Some days he wins and some days we win. He has starting talking a lot and loves music more than anything else. He can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Baa Baa Black Sheep, and the Elmo theme song. He truly takes after his Daddy in this, and we are convinced he is going to be a musical prodigy (haha).

We had a wonderful first holiday with Grayson. He was sick the week before Christmas and I was so afraid that he wasn't going to enjoy Christmas morning, but he rallied just in time and had the best time getting spoiled by all of the family. He got LOTS of toys and some really cute clothes. He doesn't care so much for the clothes, but he is in heaven with all of the news toys he has to play with. He is crawling everywhere now and is able to go all over his playroom playing with all of the different toys. He got a black eye while he was learning to crawl, but I am getting the impression that it is going to be the first of many. He has no regard for his safety and seems to be fearless when it comes to climbing and crawling on things.

We just got home from his 9 month appointment and he got excellent marks from his doctor! He is growing like a weed and doing all the things he is supposed to be doing at 9 months! He is 19.5 lbs and 29 inches. He should weigh more than that, but when he got sick in December, he lost two pounds and has been eating furiously ever since trying to put some weight back on.

I know it has been forever since I updated this blog. I am sorry for being so slow, but life is really hectic when you are chasing around a 7.5 month old all of the time:-) Grayson is so much fun these days. He interacts with us so much more and smiles at everyone that he meets. I can barely take him to the grocery store with me b/c he smiles at everyone and we spend the whole time talking to strangers! He is standing up now, granted he has to hold on to something, but still he loves to stand up by himself. He has no interest in crawling however, and just rolls around the floor until he gets to where he wants to be. He sits up perfectly and will play by himself for a long time now. It doesn't seem right that he should be sitting up playing with his toys, it just makes him look too grown up!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Grayson's Grammie came on Tuesday night and stayed with Grayson on Wednesday while Chris and I went to work and then G-Paw came down on Thursday and we all had a wonderful meal together. Grayson was so excited to see his grandparents and was completely spoiled by the time they went home!

Here are just a few pictures that we have taken in the last month. Excuse Grayson's startled look in most of the pictures - Chris's camera has this huge flash and it freaks Grayson out every time.

Six Months Old!

Grayson is now six and a half months old. He weighs approximately 17.5 lbs and he is 27 inches long. He is in the 50th percentile for weight and the 75th percentile for height. He got lots of shots at his six month appointment, but he was a tough little guy and only cried a little bit.

Grayson got his first cold this week and we spent all last night up with him b/c his fever was really high. Thankfully, his fever seems to have broken this morning and I am hoping that he is on the road to recovery. We were very disappointed though b/c we had to miss our first Halloween party last night. Grayson had his costume all ready (he was going to be a pumpkin), but he was just too sick to go:-( We are going to dress him up tonight though for the trick or treaters and let him see all the kiddos in their crazy costumes. I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween.

Milestones

Grayson has been busy since I last posted! He is now sitting up by himself and he just got his very first tooth. I was shocked when I felt his gums on Saturday and found a tooth. I thought he was too young for this, but apparently I was wrong.

His new favorite things are Brody, our little dog, and anything that he can stick in his mouth. I was trying to keep him from putting anything that wasn't sterilized and clean in his mouth, but I have finally given up seeing as absolutely everything goes in the mouth. I figure he has to be exposed to germs at some point.

We have had a busy couple of weeks as a family. We took our first vacation without Grayson! We went to a wedding in D.C. for our good friend Christian, and Grammie came to stay with Grayson. We had so much fun, but were really happy to come home and see our little boy.

Tomorrow is Grayson's six month check-up and his last set of shots for awhile (yeah). I will post with the doctor's report later this week.

Five Months Old!

I can't believe that Grayson is already five months old! The time has gone so fast. Chris and I went to the park yesterday and took some cute pics of Grayson to celebrate his fifth month. Chris also took some sweet pics of me and Grayson together.

In my last post, I mentioned that we were trying a new rice cereal and really hoping that it didn't cause him any tummy problems. Well, so far it seems to be working!!!!!! We are so relieved that we are not going to have to take him to a specialist. He is still sleeping through the night and seems to be handling the transition to solids pretty well. He does give me a funny look when I try to put food in his mouth, but every day seems to get better and he is slowing learning what the spoon is all about:-)

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Grayson is going for an overnight visit with his Mimi, and Chris and I are going to get a night out and a full night of sleep (yea)! I hope for Mimi's sake that Grayson is a good boy and continues to sleep through the night.

This weekend was Grayson's Great-Grandma's 85th birthday party, and he dressed up as a NY Yankee(in the outfit Daddy Mac brought him from Yankee Stadium) for the party. Needless to say, he was a big hit! He was such a good boy at the party, and was completely entertained by the birthday balloons. Who knew that a baby could be so enamored with a plastic balloon? He watched the balloon the whole time and loved to bat at it with his hands.

On Sunday, we tried feeding Grayson cereal again and we were really hoping that he would not have a bad reaction this time. We tried cereal a couple of weeks ago and he got an upset tummy from it due to his protein intolerance. The doctor told me to wait a couple of weeks and try again - hoping that his digestive system would mature enough to process the cereal. Well, he had another fitful night and upset tummy after the cereal:( I talked to the doctor again this morning and he said to give it one more week and then try a different type of grain than we have been using. If Grayson still has a bad reaction, then we are going to have to go and see a specialist. He has to be able to eat someday - I just hope we can figure something out without too many upset tummies. The doctor said we may have to skip cereal and proceed directly to fruits and veggies. I will update next week and let everyone know how the new rice cereal goes. Keep your fingers crossed that it works and Grayson won't have to go see the specialist!

Grayson thought this was the funniest thing ever! We can't believe that we finally caught him laughing on tape. He doesn't laugh all that often yet, but when he does, it is absolutely priceless. Needless to say, Chris and I are pretty smitten with the little boy:)

Grayson is growing so fast. He is really starting to interact with the world and it is so fun to watch him discover new things everyday. His new favorite thing is to sit upright in his highchair and play with the toys on his tray. He loves being able to see everything I am doing in the kitchen from his new perch. He also has discovered how to push the buttons on his exersaucer, which make all of these funny animal sounds. He can't always push hard enough with his hands to make the sounds come out - so he has learned how to push the buttons with his head! This looks like it would hurt to me, but he seems to think that it is hilarious.

We had our family pictures taken last week and here are a couple of cute ones of Grayson. We think he is a natural! The photographer was so great, and we will be going back for his 6 month pictures and for his 1 year old pictures. The only hiccup of the entire process was that he had to be naked for the whole photo shoot, and he decided that the best time to pee was right when Mommy was holding him! So, I was completely wet for the last 30 minutes of the shoot :( In other news, Grayson had his four month check-up last week. He did just fine - he melted down near the end, but he was a trooper about the whole thing. He had a fever for a couple of days, and Mommy stayed home to take care of him, but he loved getting the grape flavored Tylenol. He weighed 14lbs 13oz, and he is in the 50% for weight and the 55% for height (25.5 inches). We are going to start cereal this week right after we master the art of sleeping through the night! We have been working on this since last weekend, and he is starting to get the hang of it. We have been going in to comfort him at night when he cries, but not feeding him (per doctor's instructions). He has slept through the night (7pm-7am) twice and it feels like we are making progress. Chris somehow seems to sleep through these middle of the night crying sessions, so needless to say, Mommy is desperately in need of some sleep! We will post more pics soon.

Laughing

I am warning everyone that this video is pretty uneventful, but Chris and I have been trying to catch Grayson laughing for a week now and this is the best we have recorded so far. He will be laughing at everything we do and then the video camera comes out and he stops. No matter what we do - he won't laugh. So, the funny part about this video is not so much that Grayson laughs (a little) but that Chris and I are doing everything we can think of to make him laugh. We call ourselves Grayson's "dancing monkeys." Brody has even tried to help, but as you will notice in the video he keeps getting smacked in the face by Grayson.

In other news, we are going today to get our first family picture taken. I am so excited and will post some of the pictures as soon as we get them back. I am praying that Grayson is in a good mood and allows us to get some decent pictures. The photographer specializes in child photography and her portfolio was beautiful. We have had a busy couple of weeks. Last weekend, Grayson's Grammie and Momo came to visit him. He got lots of hugs and kisses and Chris and I got to go out on Saturday afternoon and have some adult time, which was sooooo nice. I have a really sweet video of Chris and his Mom singing to Grayson, but I will have to post it later b/c my computer is acting up. This weekend our friend Erin and her son Logan came over as well as our friends Katherine and Joe. Grayson loved watching Logan run around and Logan was so sweet to Grayson. He gave him several kisses and was really gentle with him:) On Sunday, we had a family birthday party for my brother and Grayson got to play with his cousin Savannah. I will post pictures of this on another post. They are so cute together b/c Savannah thinks that Grayson is her baby and she loves to sing to him and play with his clothes. Grayson just stares at her and watches everything she does. I am sure they will grow up to be the best of friends!

This was the sweetest moment! I walked into the kitchen yesterday and found Chris singing to Grayson in his swing. I snuck up behind him and took this video without him noticing - so he is probably going to kill me when he sees it on the blog(haha). Grayson was just so happy and enthralled with what Daddy was doing! He already loves to listen to music, and I am hoping that he inherited Chris's musical ability and not mine.

Roll Over

I had to post this right away! Grayson rolled over for the first time this morning! He totally surprised me b/c just yesterday he seemed a long way from being able to roll over. Please excuse my high-pitched screaming, but I was just so excited!

Fourth of July

We had a very low-key Fourth of July holiday. We stayed home all weekend, but it was so nice to have a lot of family time. Grayson wore his adorable Fourth of July outfit all day that his Grammie got him and we set him up in his rocker to take pictures. We went swimming and had lots of playtime on our activity mat. Grayson also started to sleep through the night for the first time :))))) He slept from 7:30 - 5:30am. He doesn't do this every night, but he has given us three nights of blissful sleep! I also included a pic

Grayson has discovered his hands! He just started to grab at stuff and is having the most fun entertaining himself on his activity mat. He loves to grab the rings and make all of the toys rock back and forth. He just smiles and kicks and gets so excited the whole time. He is also getting really good head control and we put together his exersaucer this week. He still has to have a blanket tucked into it to support him and a pillow under his feet b/c his little legs are too short, but he looks all grown up sitting in there and playing! He still scares himself sometimes when he pushes really hard with his legs and then his whole body shoots up!

Grayson is starting to lift his head up all on his own! He hates tummy time, but if we prop him up on his boppy he loves to look around and will hold his head up for several minutes. We went to the lake this weekend and Grayson got to go on the boat for the first time. Granted, it was only while the boat was docked, but we are taking baby steps. Mimi, Mac, Savannah, and Uncle Freddy all came out to see us at the lake on Saturday and we had a fun day. Savannah even got to drive the boat!

Happy Father's Day

We had a wonderful Father's Day this year! Grayson had his baby dedication at our church and all of our family came to support us. We then all had brunch together to celebrate. Grayson got his Daddy a new sport coat for Father's Day, and the best present of all was that he slept 7 hours on Saturday night!!

Grayson has begun to smile at us all the time now. He likes to have his belly tickled and he loves to play on his activity mat. His favorite things right now are lights and ceiling fans. He can watch a ceiling fan go round or stare at our skylights for hours.

Things are going really well for us now! Grayson is sleeping better and Mommy and Daddy are really happy about that. This week we made it to church for the first time since he was born, and he did pretty good. He only cried once! He also smiled at me for the first time this week! It was so sweet!

Grayson is 3 weeks old and we are starting to get the hang of this thing called parenting. He is starting to be awake more and more and here are some of his favorite activities! Staring at Mommy and being held by Daddy after bath time.

Grayson was born on April 12 at 3:38 am. He weighed 6lbs 6oz and he was 20 inches long. He is doing really well and we are so happy to have him here finally!
